Chinese manufacturers have started producing SSDs for the cryptocurrency Chia, the popularity is growing

Kryptoměnu Divide (XCH) we can already mine, or in this case farm, but it has still not been traded, so its value on the market has not been determined. At the same time, it is certainly an interesting alternative for investment for cryptocurrency miners, and it is conceivable that many of them can use their existing hardware for Chia farming, for example for Etherea mining. It may not be as suitable as a rig designed specifically for Chia, but this is an initial investment, which can only mean connecting SSDs and HDDs to existing mining rigs. –

Ethereum basically uses only the power of a graphics card, so its mining does not conflict with farming, where it uses CPU, RAM and powerful SSD for plotting, and then ideally HDD for farming, which can take place on one system in parallel with mining.

There is a two-part system for making Chia. First, the mentioned plotting occurs in the analogy of setting boxes, which means the creation of about 100GB files with hashes (default size). The resulting files can then be saved where we want, marked their directories in the Chia software, and then farming takes place, where it is monitored whether a hash in the entry does not match what we have on disk, so in this respect it is basically a lottery. So the more hashi files we have, the better the chances of success.

In particular, Chinese miners and now farmers are looking for an opportunity, which is also true for the local storage manufacturers, who quickly hurried with special SSD models. At the same time, 8TB hard drives are already missing from the Chinese market, and smaller models are gradually starting to run out. As for SSDs, they are used mainly for plotting, where speed is important, but it is an intensive process that ordinary consumer SSD can quickly deplete, so farmers are mainly interested in long-lasting enterprise SSDs (accordingly, a new offer of manufacturers) , or just for the fastest possible HDD.

Our stores are still calm, so even the mentioned 8TB hard drives are usually in stock and their prices have obviously not been affected by anything like Chia lately. But it can only be a matter of time before we too, that is, before the shortage spills over from Asia to Europe. However, hard drives are no longer the number one choice for modern PCs, and as far as consumer consumer SSDs are concerned, for the reasons set out above, Chiamania should not be so affected by their shipments. However, if you plan to buy and equip a new NAS, in this case it is probably not advisable to delay the purchase of disks.

At the same time, the Chia network currently reports that a capacity of over 400 PiB has been connected to it in the last 5 hours, and it is growing every day. If someone does not regularly expand their “fields”, their chances of success are constantly decreasing, and if you fill a 2TB disk for these purposes today, it is estimated that you will wait for the first acquired block for about two months. However, it is only an estimate and a coincidence, so one can succeed right away and another may be unlucky and will not see it for a year. The point is, however, that without constant investment, our chances will decrease due to the expanding capacity of the network, while the pools do not yet exist, so it is currently a “single player” business. On the other hand, if someone is lucky, they can quickly earn a pair of Chia and then just wait to see what their value will be in the future.
