Chinese Ambassador Claims Vaccine Origin from China is Effective Against the Delta Variant

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

China’s Ambassador to ASEAN, Deng Xijun, claimed that the Covid-19 vaccine from China was effective against corona delta mutation or B 1,617.2 originating from India.

China’s top epidemiologist Nanshan said on Friday that China’s vaccine is effective against the delta variant of covid19, encouraging more people to be vaccinated,” Xijun tweeted on his Twitter account, @China2ASEAN quoted Sunday (27/6).

He said the delta variant had a lower incubation time than the initial Covid-19 mutation and that exposed patients needed longer time to recover from the variant.

It is known, China has succeeded in producing two Covid-19 vaccines, namely Coronavac from Sinovac Biotech and Sinopharm from China National Pharmaceutical Group.

Sinovac itself is used by Indonesia in the government’s vaccine program and Sinopharm in mutual cooperation vaccines.

According to experts in Indonesia

Such that previously reported, Spokesperson for Covid-19 Vaccination, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, stated that all types of vaccines in Indonesia were effective against variants of the corona mutation, including the delta variant.

“We see WHO recommendations that all vaccines are still very effective against new virus variants,” Nadia told CNNIndonesia.com, Tuesday (22/6).

Meanwhile, Nadia’s statement is different from an epidemiologist from Griffith University, Dicky Budiman, who said that Astrazeneca is a vaccine that has been proven effective against the new corona variant.

“Now what is used in Indonesia, which is circulating in Indonesia, which is scientifically proven for the new variant, the most serious delta variant, yes AstraZaneca so far,” said Dicky.

According to Dicky, the Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines have yet to be proven effective against the corona variant and are still waiting for further research data regarding this.

The results of a research conducted by a health institution in the UK (PHE) stated that two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine were 66 percent effective in reducing symptoms of illness from the Covid-19 B117 variant.

While one dose of AstraZeneca vaccine is 50 percent effective in reducing symptoms of pain from the B117 variant after 3 weeks of being injected.
