China’s Huawei has launched a new mobile phone, the Mate 60 Pro.

A ‘satellite communication’ function has been added to compensate for unstable communication in a large area of the country.

Huawei said it developed about 10,000 of these mobile phone parts in China.

A Canadian semiconductor consulting firm disassembled and analyzed a new Huawei mobile phone.

It was equipped with a 7-nanometer processor semiconductor developed by SMIC, a Chinese semiconductor company.

[댄 허친슨/테크인사이트 부회장 : “우리가 예상하지 못한 수준입니다. 중국이 이런 제품을 만들 수 있게 된 것을 축하합니다.”]

The United States has banned its companies from doing business with China’s Huawei for national security reasons since 2019, and last year implemented control measures to block exports of semiconductors and production equipment to China.

Bloomberg News reported that “China seems to have succeeded in developing its own semiconductors by bypassing US sanctions.”

[중국 관영 CCTV 보도 : “우리는 스마트폰의 가장 중요한 반도체, 특히 5G 반도체를 국산화할 수 있는 중요한 돌파구를 확실히 마련한 것으로 보입니다.”]

China is also focusing on semiconductor R&D investment.

Foreign media reported that “the Chinese government plans to release a semiconductor investment fund worth about 53 trillion won of our money, including the development of semiconductor manufacturing equipment.”

Although it is not yet at the level of threatening Korea and the United States, experts say that China’s semiconductor localization is progressing faster than expected.
