BEIJING, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) — A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said Monday that Taiwan is China’s internal affairs and has nothing to do with Japan, urging the Japanese side to act prudently on the issue. of Taiwan and stop launching provocations.

Spokesman Wang Wenbin made the remarks when asked to comment on former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s recent remarks on Taiwan.

Wang said that recently certain Japanese politicians have been repeatedly spouting nonsense on the Taiwan issue and making irresponsible statements about China’s internal affairs. “China strongly opposes this.”

Wang said that Japan committed countless crimes during its aggression against China and the colonial regime in Taiwan for half a century, and thus bears grave historical responsibilities to the Chinese people. “During World War II, Japan was defeated and Taiwan returned to the motherland. But some forces in Japan still covet Taiwan. They do not confront or reflect on Japan’s record of belligerence, aggression, and unhinged expansion, as well as its brutal colonialism.” and enslavement. Worse still, they try to exploit and exaggerate the situation in the neighborhood for a military advance.”

Japanese politicians have recently made absurd statements about Taiwan, and even outrageous comments that blatantly violate their own Three Non-Nuclear Principles and obligations as part of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Also, by proposing nuclear sharing with the United States, Japan has fully exposed the dangerous trend that militarism continues to persist in that country, Wang said.

“Taiwan is China’s internal affair and has nothing to do with Japan,” Wang said, adding, “We strongly urge the Japanese side to seriously reflect on history, earnestly adhere to the principles stipulated in the four political documents between China and Japan and their commitments made so far, act prudently on the Taiwan issue and stop launching provocations.
