China torrential rain toll rises to 69 dead
Zhengzhou (China) – The toll of torrential rains that hit the central Chinese province of Henan rose to 69 dead on Monday at noon, local authorities said.
According to the provincial government information office, more than 12.9 million people have been affected by the latest torrential rains and the flood situation remains severe, adding that in Henan, a total of 933,800 residents have been relocated to safer places and around 972,000 hectares of crops have been damaged.
Meanwhile, China’s eastern coast was put on high alert as Typhoon In-Fa made landfall for a second time on Monday morning in coastal waters near Pinghu, causing torrential rains in surrounding areas. with winds of up to 28 meters per second at its center.
All high-speed trains passing through the cities of Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo have ceased service, with road congestion and the suspension of the activity of about half of the chemical companies in the port area.
