BEIJING China published two new data sets obtained from the Mars probe and the lunar probe. The data was obtained from three scientific payloads including a high-definition camera on Tianwen-1 China’s Mars probe.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese / NAOC) said that the data collected from January to March 2023 amounted to nearly 68 gigabytes. This is the fifth data release from the investigation.

“Tianwen-1, consisting of an orbiter, lander and rover, entered Mars orbit on February 10, 2021. Tianwen-1 is the country’s first probe to orbit the planet Mars,” wrote the Xinhua page, Tuesday (5/9/2023).

In addition, the NAOC team published the 38th scientific data obtained from four payloads attached to the Chang’e-4 lander and rover between April 15 and June 24 this year. The data is 2.7 gigabytes in size.

The Chang’e-4 spacecraft, launched on December 8, 2018, made its first soft landing in the Von Karman Crater in the South Pole-Aitken Basin on the far side of the moon on January 3, 2019.

Tianwen-1 is the China National Space Agency’s (CNSA) interplanetary mission that is sending a robotic spacecraft to Mars. The mission consists of 6 spacecraft, an orbiter, two deployable cameras, a lander, a remote camera and the Zhurong rover.

The spacecraft, with a total mass of nearly five tons, is one of the heaviest probes launched to Mars and carries 14 scientific instruments. This is the first in a series of planned missions carried out by CNSA as part of China’s Planetary Exploration program.
