China Detects Human Cases of H5N6 Avian Influenza in Sichuan

Government China confirmed one case of virus transmission bird flu H5N6 in humans in Sichuan Province on Thursday (15/7).

The case includes a 55-year-old man with H5N6 in Bazhong City. The man has been hospitalized.

The man was said to have developed symptoms of H5N6 around June 30 and was taken to the hospital on July 4. Now, the man’s condition is reported to be critical.

The man developed symptoms of H5N6 after coming into contact with poultry around his house.

According to China’s state broadcaster, CCTV, as a result of the case, Bazhong authorities have culled a flock of poultry around the man’s home.

This is the 32nd human case of H5N6 infection reported by China since 2014.

Quotes Reuters, CCTV reported experts believe this H5N6 infection is a rare case and the risk of an epidemic resulting from the infection is ‘very small’.
