Children under the age of twelve count as knuffle contacts

The Flemish Commissioner for Children’s Rights, Caroline Vrijjens, explains that the Knuffelkontakt rules are confusing. In the first corona wave, the children were excluded from the contact restrictions. Therefore, the parents assumed that it was the same in the second wave. That should have been explained better, said the Commissioner for the Rights of the Child.

Health Minister Vandenbroucke apologized for this lack of clarity in the VRT news on Thursday afternoon. He would make the mistake.

The rule is that every member of the family can have a Knuffel contact visit, but not all at the same time. In contrast to spring, this also applies to children under the age of twelve.

Meetings outside are treated a little more generously. Four people are allowed to visit in the garden, observing the distance rule of one and a half meters. Children under the age of twelve are not counted outside.
