The limited stock of vaccines makes the achievement of child immunization in Cianjur still low
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CIANJUR – The Cianjur Health Service, West Java noted that the limited stock of vaccines made an achievement child immunization in Cianjur is still low. The immunization rate or BCG vaccination to prevent tuberculosis has only reached 26 percent.
Head of Health Services Cianjur Health Office Frida Laila Yahya said that during the period from January to May 2022, BCG immunization was only 26 percent, polio immunization was 29 percent, and measles was 27 percent. “Achievement basic immunization complete we are still low. It was recorded that until May no one had reached 30 percent. It should have been achieved by June at 95 percent, because the minimum stock of the target vaccine is still low,” he said.
Frida explained that some of the obstacles faced in maximizing the achievement of children’s immunizations were because health workers were still focused on Covid-19 vaccinations. The achievement of vaccination for the first dose is at 95 percent, the second dose is 90 percent, and the third dose is only 30 percent. The availability of vaccines for complete basic immunization during the pandemic is very limited. Including service activities during the pandemic, it is still under restrictions and the geographical location of Cianjur is very wide, so that officers find it difficult to reach every child.
“The Health Office will continue to boost immunization achievements to the maximum through the National Child Immunization Month (BIAN) in July. We hope that this activity will increase the child immunization rate sharply,” explained Frida.
The Health Office also asked health workers and posyandu assistants to continue to socialize to residents who have children under five for routine health checks and complete immunizations.
