Chifrina becomes the most victorious downhill skier in one discipline

Schladming (Austria), 11 January, LETA – DPA. US downhill skier Michael Schriffin won the World Slalom World Cup in Slalom on Tuesday, while Petra Vlhova from Slovakia secured the Small Crystal Globe in the discipline.

Chifrina became the richest athlete in history in one discipline, winning the 47th slalom. In the past, Swedish Ingemar Stenmark was less victorious than a slalom. Chifrina has 73 victories in her career, nine less than her compatriot Lindsay Von and 13 less than Stanmark.

After the first race, the leader was Vlhova, but Chifrina took fifth place 0.42 seconds behind her rival. The American had an excellent second trip, in which two skiers who were ahead of her after the first trip failed – Wendy Holdener from Switzerland and Ali Nullmeiere from Canada.

Vlhov’s second race at the top of the track was ahead of Chifr by four-tenths of a second, but at the bottom he was unable to keep up with the result shown by the competitor and lost 0.15 seconds. The third was Lena Dirra from Germany, who lost 0.93 seconds to Crypt.

After seven out of nine competitions in Slalom, the first place in the overall ranking was secured by Vlhova, who has 660 points or 220 more than Chifrina. A maximum of 100 points can be won in one competition.

In the sum of all disciplines, Śrifrina is the first to score 966 points, ahead of Vlhov by 55 points.

This weekend, the ladies of Altenmarkt-Zauhenzi will compete in speed disciplines.
