On April 2, the World Autism Awareness Daya day in which autistic people and those around them celebrate diversity and take advantage of the spotlight to convey to society the demands that, during the rest of the year, are not heard.
And, among these demands, is that of improve leisure contexts through adaptations that allow people with challenges in communication, attention or sensory integration to participate in activities of daily living. In the same way that it may be impossible for a person with reduced mobility to access some spaces without a ramp or elevator, without adjustments that make the task easier, some people with autistic conditions, attention deficit and hyperactivity, or intellectual disabilities, have great difficulty getting there. to the theater, to a concert or to the cinema.
This is how this idea was born, which is titled Cinema Diver-People and in which the company that manages the Las Salinas Multicines (Unión Cine Ciudad) and the psychology, speech therapy and psychopedagogy center specialized in neurodivergence, Educa, have come together and designed a film session, which will take place on Saturday, April 6, with the following accommodations: the light will remain on although dim, the audio volume will be reduced by 50%, there will be freedom to get up from the seat and move around the room and special signage will be placed to communicate relevant aspects of the premises through pictograms.
The agreement between both organizations will make once a month a Diver-Gente Cinema session takes place But next Saturday will be a special event since a large number of autistic boys and girls and their families will participate. On the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day, they have organized a meeting at the screening.
