Chery Tiggo 2: renewed image in China, waiting for its arrival in our region

Atime is official. After several leaks and spy photos, Chery finally presented the restyling of the Tiggo 2 in China, with a much more modern image and maintaining its urban crossover characteristics.

At the design level, as expected, the main changes are observed in the front sector that was completely rethought: now it has a huge hexagonal grille with a diamond-like lattice and Led headlights divided into two sectors, the upper one with the daytime running lights (DRL) and the lower one that integrates the main headlights in a black frame. At first glance, it is undeniable to find similarities with some Hyundai products by using the same aesthetic appeal in the headlights. Of course, the bumper has also been redesigned and adds a protection at the bottom with an aluminum look appliqué.

In profile, the modifications are less noticeable and are limited to the design of the alloy wheels with a diamond finish and the aluminum-colored roof bars. Like any hatchback with an adventurous aesthetic, it has underbody guards, black wheel arches along with a chrome plinth that extends under the doors.

Finally, at the rear, the headlights received a subtle touch-up on the inside, they have a darkened mask and a somewhat more three-dimensional appearance. The hatchback added a more prominent spoiler and the bumper was renewed, which adds a black protection and two simulated tailpipes.

Inside doors, there are also important changes: a large part of the dashboard and the central console were redesigned, which opens new air vents, a larger screen for the multimedia system -now 9 inches- and several piano black-type fixtures, with other simile fiber carbon. In the photographed version, there are also new controls for air conditioning, a new steering wheel and leather upholstery. It also incorporates stability control and electric handbrake.

Where there are no modifications at least for the moment is in its mechanics, since it maintains the 115 hp Acteco 1.5 gasoline engine associated with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission. The expected 1.0 turbo propeller will be left for later, which according to various Asian press media is already being tested.

Recently presented in China, for its arrival in our country it will be necessary to wait at least a few more months. Our Brazilian colleagues also await the arrival of this novelty without specifying the date, but they have the advantage that the Tiggo 2 is produced to supply the domestic market at the CAOA plant in Jacareí (Sao Paulo). In Argentina it will depend on the decisions of the importer.
