Cherry Launches MW5180 Bluetooth Wireless Mouse for Portable and Office Use

However, if you purchase a wireless mouse that costs around a few thousand won just because it is cheap, you may end up with a usage experience that is not as good as that of a laptop’s touchpad due to frequent disconnections or breakdowns. Accordingly, Cherry proudly entered the portable and office mouse market by launching the MW5180 Bluetooth wireless mouse. What does the office mouse presented by Cherry, a powerhouse in mechanical keyboards, look like?

Cherry MW5180 is a wireless mouse that has a compact design and supports 2.4GHz wireless connection and Bluetooth connection. It weighs only 75g and can be used for a long time with a single AA size battery.

First, let’s look at the design. MW5180 has a slim, streamlined design with a high back and low front. There are traces of various treatments used to improve the grip. Diagonal grooves were carved into the mouse cover, and polka dot patterns were carved into the area where the thumb and finger touch to prevent sweat from easily forming.

It is also noticeable that the mouse cover can be easily removed using a magnet. It can be separated by putting your hand into the gap between the mouse body and the cover and flipping it open. Inside, there is an AA-size battery compartment and a USB Type-A wireless dongle is stored. When not in use, the wireless dongle can be stored inside the mouse, so you don’t have to worry about losing it, and the batteries can be easily replaced.

Easy wireless connect/disconnect

MW5180 is a mouse that operates wirelessly without a wired connection. You can easily change the connection mode to Bluetooth mode, wireless dongle mode, or OFF using the button on the back of the mouse. What stands out is the Bluetooth reset button. Pressing this button immediately disconnects the existing connection and enters pairing mode, so there is no need to disconnect each existing connected device when a new Bluetooth connection is needed. When you successfully enter pairing mode, the LED under the mouse wheel blinks.

Cherry has long demonstrated stable wireless connection quality in its keyboards, and this has been carried over to its mice as well. Even after using both the 2.4GHz wireless connection and Bluetooth connection for several hours, I did not notice the mouse pointer bouncing.

The supported operating systems are Windows/Mac/iOS/Android, so it can be used on tablet PCs or MacBooks.

Low noise switch applied, quiet in the office

MW5180 uses a low-noise switch that produces almost no noise compared to a regular mouse switch. In fact, when compared with the switches of the gaming mouse that the reporter uses in the office, the MW5180 did not make much noise even if you clicked hard. This seems to be a particularly attractive feature for users who are sensitive to noise.
