After that, screening is also carried out at 3 months after treatment, continued to 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, and at Finally 15 months,” he continued.

If at the end of the screening at 15 months post-therapy no heart problems were found, it means that the patient does not have a risk and there is no need to worry about heart problems.

Therefore, Dr. Ario advises cancer patients to do some additional examinations while the therapy continues. This is important to ensure that there are no heart problems that may occur during therapy.

The examinations such as ECG (cardiac record), echocardiography, examination of risk factors for heart disease, examination of cardiac enzymes, and MRI examination if the imaging quality is less than optimal.

“Screening for heart disease is very necessary to determine the risk of heart attack when a cancer treatment program is carried out. Screening echocardiography with 3D and strain echo is also an important modality in cancer patients,” explained Dr. Ario.

“About what heart disease most cancer patients experience, more data shows cancer patients experience heart failure, heart rhythm disturbances or arrhythmias, and hypertension,” he said.
