Chelsea on pole to sign PSG star Neymar as they look to replace Romelo Lukaku: reports

Chelsea are believed to be in pole position to make a stunning move Neymar, with several other top European clubs vying for his services. Last season Neymar played for Paris St. Germainwhere he was part of the team that was eliminated from the Champions League through Real Madrid. After this setback, the Brazilian was booed by his own fans.

With Mauricio Pochettino on the way out of the Parc des Princes and a new sporting director in Luis Campos, the French capital is on the verge of an upheaval. The departure of Brazilian superstar Neymar appears to be part of this reshuffle.

In the summer of 2017, the Ligue 1 champions paid a world record £198million to sign him from Barcelona. But he failed to live up to the expectations that came with such a hefty fee and failed to realize PSG’s elusive dream of a Champions League trophy.

According to various reports, Neymar’s attitude and poor form have made PSG executives ready to let him go. His friendship with Kylian Mbappe has also cooled in recent years, with the young Frenchman now emerging as a franchise player at the club.

Chelsea are looking for a replacement for the outgoing disastrous signing Romelu Lukaku

Given the financial position of Europe’s other top clubs, a move to the Premier League seems like the most likely goal. With Romelu Lukaku on loan at Inter Milan and Armando Borja on the brink of departure, the Blues need reinforcements in attack. Despite his relatively poor performance last season, Neymar would undoubtedly deliver.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are seen as the biggest challengers to Chelsea’s hopes, although both have been hampered by financial constraints. Newcastle are also said to be interested, although reports suggest Neymar is unlikely to join the Magpies.

Manchester United and Manchester City are believed to be close behind these three clubs, with the Red Devils trying to recover from a disastrous season of their own.
