Chelsea FC Defeats Middlesbrough FC 6-1 in Carabao Cup Semi-Final Second Leg: Enzo Fernandez Celebrates Scoring Second Goal

Chelsea FC beat Middlesbrough FC 6-1 this Tuesday in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals, overcoming a 1-0 deficit in the first leg and avoiding a surprise at Stamford Bridge against a rival that currently plays for Sky Bet Championship, second category of English football. After a quarter of an hour where the Ukrainian Mykhailo Mudryk created danger several times, Chelsea opened the scoring thanks to an own goal by Jonathan Howson when he tried to prevent a shot at the pleasure of Armando Broja, after a ‘death’ pass from Raheem Sterling inside of the area. Enzo Fernández made it 2-0 in the 29th minute, pushing a loose ball after another unsuccessful shot by Broja at close range. Axel Disasi made it 3-0 in the 36th minute, culminating with a low shot an assist from Sterling, following a steal of the ball that Disasi himself had made. His attempts to get the ball out and make short passes from behind was what condemned Middlesbrough, who conceded 4-0 to Cole Palmer shortly before half-time. Palmer repeated with his ‘little hand’ in the 77th minute and Noni Madueke made it 6-0 in the 81st minute with a crossed left foot shot that a visiting defender put into his goal. Morgan Rogers scored the goal of honor for Boro in the 88th minute, on a counterattack and with a right foot from outside the area, which entered the goal post defended by Djordje Petrovic. Despite this, Chelsea qualified without problems for the final of this League Cup, where they were last and lost in 2022.
