Châteaudun: David The Ironman 70.3 World Championship is back at the start this Saturday

As you read these lines, David Renvoisé, Dunois expatriate in Calvisson, 15km west of Nîmes (Gard), is getting ready to kick off his big match of the year. At 42, this Saturday in Saint-Georges (Utah), in the United States, he will compete in his first Ironman 70.3 world championship with the aim of “having fun”.

Coach Pierre-Yves David returns to Chartres to replace Jean-Pierre Papin on the bench of C’Chartres Football?

1.9 km of swimming, 90 km of cycling and 21 km of running: this is what awaits the son of Edwige and Geneviève Renvoisé, emeritus volunteers of the AC Sud 28 in the capital of Washington County. cramps just to read it, but that this sales manager of a Breton travel agency (Abyciclette voyages), sure of his physical condition, approaches “with serenity” but also a great experience.

A hilly path

Former runner of AC Sud 28 and Cercle Gambetta Orléans, David Renvoisé already has two Para-cycling World Championships to his credit as a tandem rider in Italy (7th) and Canada. The route promises to be “hilly” with 1,000 m of altitude difference on the cycle path and 200 m of track, wet from summer temperatures (between 20 and 24 degrees approximately).

A member of the Crocos d’Airain Nîmes triathlon, David Returned obtained the ticket for this world championship on 22 May in Aix-en-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône), finishing 100th overall and above all 7th in the category (40-45 years) in the last qualifying round, in a time of 4h37, which says a lot about its possibilities.

This former cyclist obviously still has some under the pedal because, the more the years pass, the less they have on him, the more he “gradually increases the distances”.

Optimize your sessions

Recently, David Renvoisé joined the My Training Partner team to benefit from valuable advice. “I fished in the preparation, he admits on the phone. I have learned to optimize the sessions as much as possible. The idea is to work an average of 10 to 12 hours a week, no more. There is no point in spending time exercising just to get out. The basics must be regular and memorize the most qualitative workload possible. ”

To go to Saint-Georges, David Renvoisé opened a kitten online, a crowdfunding that allowed him to complete his “big budget” of 3,000 euros.

Le Tir dunois at the revival

He will wear the # 1634 among the 4,000 triathletes involved, all categories combined. I will obviously try to get the best possible result, but above all to take advantage of the opportunity he gave me. This will end a long season on a positive note ”.

He will be accompanied by three of his teammates and his cousin Antoine Bezault.

With his cousin … David Returned flew to the United States on Monday. There he found his cousin, Antoine Bezault, who arrived directly from Hawaii, where the son of Nathalie Bezault, director of the Châteaudun tourist office, who was accompanying him, has just participated in the Ironman full race world championship, two weeks ago, in category 30. -34 (287 °, 11:07:55). An engineer by profession, Antoine Bezault practiced cycling and athletics at the OCCBA. Resident in Annemasse (Haute-Savoie), he is currently a member of the Trisaleve Annemasse-Agglo club. Both will not return to France until next week “just to visit a little”.
