Has your role in the team changed now?
A little yes. In the past, however, I have sometimes jumped in with the captain’s armband for Venac Procházka. We will definitely have more team leaders now. And young players can be among them. If they belong to the props on the field, the cabin will perceive it.
The start of the Fantasy League is approaching
Zlín got a lot younger over the summer, in addition to Tkáč and Slončík, Bužek, Kulíšek, Bachůrek, Číž and Polášek were added to the league squad. How did they fit into the team?
Everyone looks good. I believe they will be legitimate members of the team. They show a great passion for football.
How do you and other older players get along with them?
Young boys understandably have slightly different interests and different activities than fathers from families. But we make a very good team. We try to advise them.
At the beginning of the league, you have a tough draw. After Saturday’s duel on the pitch of the Karvinské novice, you will host Sparta and in the third round you will travel to Slavia…
I don’t choose. We have to play each team twice in the season, so I don’t worry too much about it.
What do you expect from the opening match in Karviná?
I think we’re going to run into a playable opponent. There is no reason to fear anything. In the spring, we broke a long string of away matches without a win in the extra-form duel in Pardubice, and in some other matches we gave a solid performance against our opponents. I therefore believe that we will score points in Karviná.

You probably wouldn’t like to repeat last season, in which you stayed in the first league until the last moment, right?
Of course, it wasn’t pleasant at all, but that’s part of football. We managed the key matches at the end of the spring. Now, however, a new stage begins for us. We enter the season with a clear head. We believe that it will be better for us than the last one.
But you probably feel that many football experts and part of the public don’t trust you too much…
A year ago, few believed in us either, and we still managed to survive in the league. I don’t bother with such talk at all. I don’t deal with it until the results on the field show how we are doing.
Does it bother you that in the current heat you will be starting league matches at 3 pm?
It is definitely not pleasant in such high temperatures. I have no idea who sets the times. But we have been playing football all our lives and are used to playing in different conditions. I take it as it is. Both teams will have it the same.
