Chamber urges Jetten to decide nuclear power plants: ‘Hurry up with nuclear power’ | Inland

The coalition agreement already states that nuclear energy from nuclear power plants can supplement solar, wind and geothermal energy in the energy mix. The cabinet is ‘taking the necessary steps for the construction of two new nuclear power stations’. However, little is known about this to date because ‘scenario studies’ are still ongoing, as was the defense from the ministry in recent months.

VVD, CDA, CU, JA21, PVV and Groep Van Haga want it to be accelerated. Energy spokesman Silvio Erkens of the VVD urges the minister to speed up, precisely because it can take years to build the power stations: “We are now going to accelerate the energy transition to reduce our dependence on Russia. Nuclear energy is one of the most important techniques required for this in the medium term. The Netherlands must now accelerate the construction of the two new nuclear power plants that have been agreed in the coalition agreement. I want the cabinet to make decisions quickly about the location, financing and the role of the government in construction.”
