Chamber of Deputies to Discuss Million-Dollar Loans and Funding for Future “Great Hospital” in Coronel Oviedo

The Chamber of Deputies must analyze today in its meeting set for 9:00 a battery of projects that will have a million-dollar budgetary impact, for US$ 273.8 million to be allocated to various infrastructure works.

The largest amounts correspond to loan requests for the National Electricity Administration (ANDE) for investment projects, for a total of US$ 254.8 million.

On the one hand, a credit of US$70 million from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), plus 9,294 million yen (about 64 million US dollars) from the Japan International Cooperation Agencyfor the Expansion of the High Voltage Transmission System and Energy Efficiency Actions program.

This money will be used for the construction of the transmission line dand 500 kV Yguazú-Valenzuela and complementary works.

The other project contemplates a loan for the construction of the 220 kV transmission line between Villa Hayes-Villa Real-Pozo Colorado-Loma Plata and the Pozo Colorado Substation.

For that, he considers obtaining a loan from US$ 75 million of the State Development Bank of the Federal Republic of Germany, plus US$ 45 million from the Financial Fund for him Development of the Del Plata Basin (Fonplata).

All these credit projects already have half the approval of the Senate and were defended in commissions by the current president of the ANDE, Felix Sosawho, as announced by the president-elect Santiago Peña (ANR), would continue in office.

It is noteworthy that both initiatives, which appear in the 4th and 5th point, respectively, have the approval of the majority of the commissions.

Colonel Oviedo Hospital

Another important amount, in this case of budget expansion, is for the Ministry of Health to equip and hire personnel for the future “Great Hospital of Coronel Oviedo”, whose construction is expected to be completed in December 2023 or January 2024.

The proposed extension, which already has half the approval of the Senate, is of G. 140.000.000.000 (about US$19 million).

The Vice Minister of Health, Hernan Martinezattended yesterday before the convocation of the Budget Committee of Deputies to argue in favor of the budget expansion for the Colonel Oviedo Hospital.

“We want to decentralize health care somewhat, Col. Oviedo is a key point where various departments converge and the idea is that most patients have an answer without having to come to the Capital”, he said.

He stressed that although it will be a general hospital with all specialties and intensive care for adults and pediatrics, the “epidemic of traffic accidents” continues and there will be great emphasis on treating these cases.
