Chairman of the MPR RI Reminds the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi to Create a Conducive Situation in the Political Year

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Chairman of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet) opened his voice regarding the pros and cons of Acting Governor Bahtiar’s policies. Bamsoet asked the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi to always create conducive policies and situations, especially in this political year.

As is known, the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi created a program for economic equality in all regions in South Sulawesi. This program also reduces the rate of extreme poverty in South Sulawesi.

Well, one of the programs is an effort to equalize the community’s economy by encouraging the planting of Cavendis and Kepok bananas in several areas in South Sulawesi.

This banana planting program is to meet the need for bananas domestically and for export. The need for bananas that are managed well is still quite high.

Economic equality program while reducing extreme poverty rates by building FADs or fish houses.

Acting Governor Bahtiar plans to build FADs at several points in South Sulawesi waters. Bahtiar hopes that the availability of FADs will increase fishermen’s catches.

To support this program, Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Bahtiar made a policy by proposing a village budget allocation of 40 percent.

The budget will be allocated for banana plants on 2 million hectares of land.

This proposal to allocate a village fund budget of 40 percent has sparked pros and cons.

The proposal to allocate 40 percent of village funds for planting bananas caused a reaction of rejection from the South Sulawesi Village Government Association (Apdesi).

Several protesters held a demonstration on Monday (16/10) in front of the South Sulawesi DPRD Building. They demanded the cancellation of the Acting circular letter. Governor Bahtiar related to allocating 40 percent of village funds for planting bananas or making fish FADs.
