Central Bank Increases Daily and Monthly Limits for Financial Inclusion Accounts and Prepaid Cards

The Central Bank decided to increase the maximum daily and monthly limits for dealing with financial inclusion accounts, prepaid cards, and payment services using mobile phones, whether withdrawals, transfers, or any deductions or purchases.

The dealing limits for natural persons (individuals) in relation to the maximum account limit are set by the bank, and the daily maximum is 60,000 pounds instead of 30,000 pounds, and the monthly maximum is 200,000 pounds instead of 100,000 pounds.

The bank explained that for companies and micro-enterprises that have documents or headquarters or are verified using any means (Category A), the maximum account limit is as determined by the bank, and the daily limit is 80,000 pounds instead of 40,000 pounds, and the monthly maximum is 400,000. pounds instead of 200 thousand pounds.

It is noteworthy that the Central Bank of Egypt announced a decrease in the annual rate of core inflation according to its indicators, to reach 38.1% in October 2023 compared to 39.7% in September 2023.

The bank explained, in a statement, that the core consumer price index recorded a monthly rate of 1.8% in October 2023, compared to a monthly rate of 3.0% in the same month of the previous year, and a monthly rate of 1.1% in September 2023.

The general urban consumer price index, which was announced by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics on November 11, 2023, recorded a monthly rate of 1.0% in October 2023, compared to a rate of 2.6% in the same month of the previous year and a monthly rate of 2.0% in September 2023.

The annual rate of general inflation recorded 35.8% in October 2023, compared to 38.0% in September 2023.
