Cencosud Announces Alliance With Cornershop “No Service Charge” More Access Through Uber Eats | Economy

Cencosud and Cornershop (company controlled by Uber Technologies Inc.) signed a long-term joint collaboration agreement for the Supermarkets and Home Improvement operations in Chile, Peru, Colombia and Brazil.

With this agreement “Cornershop customers will be able to access Cencosud’s Supermarkets stores (Jumbo, Santa Isabel, among others) and Home Improvement (Easy) without charge for service ”, they indicated through a statement.

In addition the Uber and Uber Eats users will be able to access Cencosud’s products and stores through your applications.

The agreement also includes technological integration as a relevant point, which means that Cencosud and Cornershop will work together to develop technology that offers the best experience to Cencosud customers and seek developments to improve business efficiency.

Likewise, Cornershop and Cencosud “They will invest in the development of dedicated stores for eCommerce picking (dark stores), both in Chile and in the other countries of the agreement ”, added the firms.

Oskar Hjertonsson, founder and CEO of Cornershop highlighted that “when we launched Cornershop in Santiago 5 years ago, Jumbo was a dream partner for that market. (…) We are very happy for this announcement and what it means: to be able to deliver even more value to our clients, not only in Chile but throughout the region ”.

For Eduardo Donnelly, general director of Uber Eats for Latin America, he commented that “we are very excited about the possibility that Cornershop will start working with Cencosud, and that thanks to our technological integration, users of Uber applications can access their stores and products ”.

Finally, Matías Videla, CEO of Cencosud, said that this alliance with Uber and Cornershop is part of Cencosud’s strategy of focusing on the eCommerce and Supermarkets channel.

“It offers us the opportunity to grow with a broader offer to our customers, improve service and benefit from current and future technological developments,” he said.
