CEM came up with a position on the words of the PR of the PP on NOVA – Bulgaria

WITH The Electronic Media Council is outraged by another attempt to encroach on media freedom in the performance of their public mission. Only a day after yesterday’s inadmissible verbal and physical assault on reporters.

The Council reiterates its call on politicians and members of the public to make every effort to comply with the norms of public speaking and conduct towards journalists on national air.

The use of edifying and unreasonably sharp tone by politicians and representatives of political formations, as well as their desire to determine the type of questions and topics of journalists are infamous practices of the past.

The CEM states that any attempt to demonstrate intolerance and obstruct the media’s search for the truth does not contribute to society’s expectations that democratic principles of freedom of speech be respected.

The Bulgarian Society for Public Relations (BDVO) also came out with a position in connection with the participation of Alexander Boychev, PR of the Parliamentary Group of the PP “Continuing Change” on NOVA on Thursday morning. In the conversation, Boychev said that the presenters “have no right to ask questions to the deputies who are not within their competence, as well as that suggestions are made and false news is spread.”

“Respect for freedom of speech and independence of the media is a fundamental principle for our profession, which is enshrined in the Sofia Charter for Ethical Communications, signed by all communication organizations in the country,” said BDVO.
