Celine Dion’s Sister Provides Update on Her Battle with Stiff Person Syndrome: Still No Cure in Sight

The sister of the Canadian star, Celine Dion, raised the concern of her fans when she talked about the developments in her health condition, as she confirmed that they were still struggling to find the appropriate treatment for her disease, “stiff person syndrome”, which shocked her fans.

Claudette Dion explained, in a press interview, that despite the follow-up of Dion’s health condition with senior researchers in the field, she did not witness that development and did not reach the stage of recovery yet.

She also added, “We cannot find a cure for her condition, but we cling to hope, as it is necessary,” according to what was reported by “Le Journal de Montreal.”

Claudette indicated that Celine’s cancellation of her “Courage” world tour after she was diagnosed with the disease was a necessary step to speed up her recovery.

“I think she needs to rest, she’s always trying to be the best and the best,” she said. At some point, your heart and body are trying to tell you something. It is important to listen to them.”

“She can barely move her body.”

Earlier, a source close to Dion told Radar Online that she was in a much worse situation than the artist said, and surprised her audience after revealing that she might not be able to perform at concerts anymore.

The source added that Dion can hardly move her body, and is in great pain, although she has a very strong medical team, but her condition is declining, and she is not feeling well, commenting: “She suffers from an incurable disease and no matter how hard she works with the doctors, she simply does not improve.” .

He pointed out that the Canadian star may not return to musical theaters in the near future, although she is making a great effort to meet her fans again.

In December 2022, the French-Canadian singer posted a touching video on Instagram saying that she had been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome and that she would not be ready to start a European tour in February as planned.

She said the disorder causes muscle spasms and “doesn’t allow me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I used to.”

According to the National Institutes of Health, stiff person syndrome is a “rare, progressive neurological disorder” that can cause stiffness in the muscles of the trunk, arms, and legs, and affects up to one in a million people.
