Deputies of the CDU will elect a new party chairman in January. That is what the three main candidates of the German party have agreed with the party administration, after unrest had arisen earlier this week about the (again) postponement of the CDU congress.
During that congress in December, the Christian Democrats were to vote on ‘the new Merkel’, although it is not yet clear whether the winner will also immediately become chancellor candidate. But due to the corona crisis, the party meeting is canceled, the CDU board announced on Monday.
