It is the media earthquake of the week, and unfortunately the parties involved have again involved the boys of CD Project RED. After a launch of Cyberpunk 2077 that was anything but smooth and positive, the Polish team had to face first a whole series of heavy criticisms, and then with the recent cyber attack that auctioned a package containing the source codes of your games.
Now, according to what we are told by the monitoring organization KELA, the auction in question ended after an offer was made which then materialized. No more details were revealed on who carried out the offer, but from what emerged the entire package containing the source codes of titles such as: The Witcher 3, GWENT and the most recent Cyberpunk 2077 it was purchased for a sum of 7 million dollars.
Additionally, KELA reportedly appears that the offer stipulates that the code will not be distributed or sold further from now on. According to Victoria Kivilevich, Threat Intelligence Analyst at KELA, we are told that it appears all the stolen files have been sold in one package, but for the time being it’s not clear who the buyer is or what they intend to do with the files now in his possession.
