SEOUL – Some time ago, Samsung accused of cheating to get the maximum benchmark score. The fraud in question is by inserting a default application called Game Optimizing Service (GOS).

GOS itself has been installed on many Samsung smartphones, including the latest line of Samsung Galaxy S22 Series. With GOS, the results of the benchmark scores that appear also do not represent the actual performance of the smartphone.

This use of GOS has led to four Samsung smartphones being kicked off the popular benchmark site, Geekbench. And recently, Samsung also apologized, as reported by Gizmochina, Sunday (20/3/2022).

Samsung was quick to admit the mistake and said the use of GOS was meant to limit smartphone performance so as to reduce CPU heating and prolong battery life.

An apology came out of the mouth of the Vice Chairman and co-CEO of Samsung Electronics, Han Jong-Hee at the General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) for the GOS controversy and said he would start to respect customers.

“We can not properly consider the needs of our consumers. So we will listen carefully to the voices of our users and provide them with the best quality and service so that similar incidents do not happen again,” he said.

Samsung is currently starting to release software patches to GOS compromised smartphones to allow all the restrictions to be unlocked. But it seems that the distribution has not been evenly distributed throughout the region.
