Carnival Cruise Line Imposes Lifetime Ban on Passenger for CBD Gummies: Lawyer Hired

She hired a lawyer.

The cruise company Carnival Cruise Line has imposed a lifetime ban on visiting a resident of Texas, USA.

About it writes The Washington Post.

When Melinda Van Veldhuizen was being checked at the Port of Miami in August, security found a packet of gummies containing the legal drug CBD in her suitcase. The company’s policies say CBD products are prohibited at sea because they are “illegal in all ports,” regardless of whether they are available for “medicinal purposes” in some parts of the United States.

The 42-year-old nurse and chiropractor from Dallas said she was stopped by security before her trip because an X-ray scan found metal nail clippers in her suitcase. During a search of her bag, security officers found a package of CBD gummies that she had purchased from a pharmacy in Texas. She said the gummies were packaged and advertised as a remedy for sleep problems.

Van Veldhuizen said security and other crew members forced her to wait in the boarding terminal area, away from her family, for about 3.5 hours. During this time, she said, security weighed the gummies and asked if the woman had a license to possess them. In the end, she was told that she would not be allowed on the cruise.

In August, the company sent a letter to Melinda informing her that she would be banned from using all of the carrier’s ships and any attempts to book an upcoming cruise would be cancelled.

The woman said she was initially told that she would be responsible for paying for the cruise and the cost of travel for her husband and two teenage sons, who would be traveling without her. That amount is approximately $5,586, according to her attorney, Daren Stabinski. After the cruise departed, her credit card was charged about $700.

The company eventually sent a follow-up letter offering to reimburse her for the $1,665 cost of the cruise. But Stabinski said that’s not enough. Melinda hopes she will be reimbursed for the entire family’s travel expenses. She also dreams that her ban will be lifted.

Let us remind you that the bus driver from Poltava won a big prize in the lottery for the second time. It is known how much the 53-year-old man got rich.
