Cargo Dragon opens wide as it approaches the International Space Station

Need arrival on scene SpaceX to change something. In the decade that America went without a spaceship, Elon Musk’s company worked hard and finally delivered the Crew Dragon, a spaceship that is likely to be more successful than the amazing space shuttle.

In just over a year since entering the scene, Crew Dragon brought people to the ISS three times. This first happened in May 2020, when the first manned test flight took place, and lastly in April this year. Another flight, Crew-3, is scheduled for late October.

Being so successful, the Crew Dragon overshadowed the spaceship that preceded it, the Cargo Dragon. The cargo version of the ship is essentially a lifeline with Earth for the astronauts on the space station since the ship first went into orbit in 2010 and delivered the first payload with supplies to the station in 2012 and has since launched no less than 23 times and has failed only once.

The main photo of this article shows the Cargo Dragon approaching the ISS in late August. The hood pulls away, revealing the docking port with the station Harmony module and front international docking adapter.

The ship was part of the 23rd Dragon Commercial Supply Mission, which landed just days ago after a brief layover in orbit and docked at an altitude of 260 miles (418 km) over Western Australia. On board are various experiments, supplies, and even a small robotic arm.
