Spouses, parents, children, cousins but also friends or neighbors. In France, between 8 and 11 million people support a loved one with a loss of autonomy. Figures steadily increasing since the first National Caregiver Day organized in 2010 and celebrated this Thursday. A phenomenon linked in particular to the aging of the population and the increase in neurodegenerative diseases, to which the Val-d’Oise is no exception since over 30,000 people are affected by the loss of autonomy.
