In March 2020, Care Santos had a full schedule to promote her novel I will follow in your footsteps, but the state of alarm was decreed and, suddenly, “I had all the time in the world.” Enough to immerse yourself in the biography of Eugene Schieffelin, a philanthropist who wanted to introduce all the birds that appeared in the works of William Shakespeare to New York and released starlings in Central Park. “It is incredible that there was no novel about this character so eccentric that it seems invented”, so he decided to write it herself.
