The risk of cardiac complications is significantly higher after SARS-CoV-2 infection that after the administration of the vacciness of messenger RNA (mRNA) against covid-19, according to a new study.

The study, released Friday by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), analyzed electronic medical record data from 40 systems of medical care in the country from January 1, 2021 to January 31, 2022.

The researchers found that the risk of cardiac outcomes was significantly higher after SARS-CoV-2 infection than after the first, second or the unspecified dose of mRNA vaccines against covid-19 for all other groups by sex and age.

These findings support continued use of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines among all eligible people older than five years, extended the analysis.

Cardiac complications, particularly myocarditis and pericarditis, have been associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection and covid-19 mRNA vaccination. Multisystem inflammatory syndrome is a rare complication but severe from SARS-CoV-2 infection with frequent cardiac involvement, the study explained.
