Cardano (ADA) Enters Next Phase Alonzo Testnet, Invites Hundreds of Testers » Crypto Insiders

Cardano (ADA) recently announced that the Alonzo testnet will enter the next phase. In a series of tweets, Cardano developer Input Output (IOHK) explains what the next phase entails.

Alonzo is a major update to the Cardano network. It will finally smart contracts launch, a functionality that has not yet been activated. As soon as Alonzo is live, the network can actually compete with Ethereum (ETH).

The update is now in a testnet. This is a test network in which testers look for bugs and other improvements. The Alonzo testnet has several phases, each with its own color. In July, the White-phase in. In this phase, the number of testers was increased compared to the previous phase.

And that will be no different in the Purple phase. IOHK is currently inviting more than 150 testers. In addition, the 300 testers who come from the Plutus Pioneer program. Part of this phase is also that more exchanges are involved in the developments.

This is important to ensure that once the actual hard fork is on it mainnet comes, everything runs smoothly. It is not yet known when the Purple hard fork will actually be implemented on the testnet. There will be during the mid-month update probably more to be announced next week.

The Alonzo hard fork on the mainnet is getting closer and closer. Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson said it could be late August or early September. He recently said in a video update:

“There are sort of two parallel roads going on simultaneously for the launch of Alonzo [,,,] way number one is the hard fork combiner moment, which revolves around getting Alonzo abilities to the node. The other way is about building the infrastructure around this node that allows you to run both off-chain and on-chain code and build full Dapps.”

The Alonzo color codes will continue to change after the hard fork on the mainnet as part of the infrastructure development around smart contracts.
