Carbon allowance and garbage statement. You lied. You will pay

The carbon allowance is a one-time benefit of PLN 3,000. zloty. It is granted to households for which the main source of heating is:

  • solid fuel boiler
  • fireplace
  • skin
  • Air heater
  • kitchen tree
  • oven-kitchen
  • coal stove
  • solid fuel tiled stove.

The advantage is obtained if the house is heated with hard coal, briquettes or pellets containing at least 85% hard coal. The provisions thus formulated gave the possibility of abuse. It was used by dishonest people who made false claims, wanting to receive 3,000. PLN, even if they were not entitled to the benefit. In order to stem this type of practice, the law on carbon emissions has been amended and an additional verification method has been introduced. These are statements on the amount of taxes for municipal waste management.

Interia explains that thanks to the amendment of 20 September, when verifying the carbon allowance application, the authorities take into account not only the CEEB declaration, but also the information contained in the declaration on the amount of the fees for waste management. If, during the examination of the application for carbon supplement, it is discovered that the data in the CEEB declaration and the garbage declaration do not match, the person who submitted them could have problems.

Both declarations must specify the number of people living in the household. If the numbers of the CEEB declaration and the junk declaration are different, the application for the carbon allowance will be rejected. But that is not all. A dishonest applicant may receive a claim to compensate for outstanding waste management expenses for those family members who have not been indicated in the declaration. The payment request may refer to fees that date back to five years ago. This means that the penalty for dishonesty can go up to several thousand. zloty.

– We are very pleased with this provision of the amended carbon supplement law, because it has provided us with an additional tool for verification. […] It’s a whip for those who for years have been hiding in garbage statements about how many people their family is made up of. We, clapping our hands, will now use that data, said Katarzyna Szczepańska of the MG-6 Special Purpose Union of Municipalities in Gorzów.
