Canelo Alvarez TKO Wins Over Plant: True Middleweight Champion

Saul Canelo Alvarez managed to ordain himself as a true champion in the middle class after winning by TKO over Caleb Plant at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Sunday (7/11) morning WIB.

Plant took the initiative to attack with a left jap, but Canelo faced it calmly and shielded his face with a double cover.

Midway through the first round, Canelo had a moment to press Plant to the side of the ring. However, his attack failed because Plant clasped his hands forcing the referee to intervene.

The fight was more aggressive in the second round. Canelo began to increase the intensity of the attack and forced Plant to defend while looking for an opening to throw a counter blow.

At the beginning of the third round, Plant took off the jap but his shot was avoided by Alvarez. In the middle of the duel, Canelo turned to press and made Plant desperate on the side of the ring.

Canelo’s combined jap and hook hit Plant’s head, but the American managed to escape the pressure.

In the fourth round Canelo was immediately aggressive. He cornered Plant and unleashed a number of combination punches which, unfortunately, could have been anticipated with Plant’s quick moves.

Canelo and Plant began to appear bold and open in the fifth round. Both appear aggressive. The number of punches released was more intense than the previous round.

At first glance, Canelo was getting frustrated. His lethal weapons in the form of hooks and upper cuts have not yet entered Plant’s face and body. Plant’s jabs even ‘rubbed’ Canelo’s face.

To lure Plant to appear bolder, Canelo did not make a defense in the face in the sixth round. He dodged with a quick neck movement as a provocation.

In the seventh round, for the first time, Plant used the ‘hit and hug’ strategy. Some of Canelo’s hooks had slipped into Plant’s side jaw.

As if maintaining stamina, Celona and Plant both appeared somewhat relaxed in the eighth round. Not many hard punches released by this fellow middleweight champion.

In the ninth round Canelo was aggressive again. The boxer from Mexico is pressing forward bravely. At the same time Plant showed footwork ligat and lightning jab.

Furthermore, Plant didn’t move much like a butterfly. He was willing to play close range with Canelo, so a number of shots went in. But Plant’s defenses were still solid.

In the 11th round Plant fell after getting hooked by Canelo. Not wanting to lose a moment, Canelo continued to press and hit a combination punch that sent Plant sprawling on the canvas.

The referee stopped the match and decided Canelo won by TKO. Thus, Canelo Alvarez is the holder of the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF middleweight titles which he recently won from Plant.
