Candidates for the Culture Excellence Award – Cultural and Entertainment Events – Culture + are invited

Kokale said that the aim of presenting the award is to express the Latvian state’s recognition for outstanding international achievements in culture, which have made a significant contribution to popularizing Latvian cultural values, promoting a positive image of Latvia, raising Latvia’s prestige in the world and cultural value in Latvian society.

The Award of Excellence in Culture is open to natural and legal persons or associations of such persons, whose individual or collective international achievement or achievement in one of the fields of culture – literature and literature, theater, cinema, visual arts, design, architecture, music, dance, cultural heritage , as well as an inter-sector – the interaction of several cultural sub-sectors or culture and another sector.

Applicants must meet the following criteria: obtained an award in international and professionally prestigious competitions, festivals and other professional evaluation events in the field of culture, Latvian artists or collectives have gained wide resonance abroad, promoted Latvia’s prestige in the world and awareness of cultural value in Latvian society international attention and has created a resonance in the world, promoting cooperation and interaction between Latvian and foreign cultural spaces.

Applications must be submitted to the Document Management Division of the Ministry of Culture by 16 October at 4 pm, by delivering them in person or by post to the Ministry of Culture by 22 October, or by sending them electronically to the e-mail “[email protected]”, signed with a secure electronic signature.

Applicants’ applications will be evaluated by the National Council of Culture in accordance with the regulations of the award. The awards, including 7,000 euros after taxes, will be received by each of the three outstanding people in a special award ceremony of Excellence in Culture, organized by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the universities and other institutions under its responsibility.

The Culture Excellence Award was established in 2014, at the initiative of the Latvian Council of Creative Unions and with the support of the National Council of Culture. The first Culture Excellence Award Ceremony took place on 22 December 2014.

In recent years, the award has been received by Aleksandrs Antonenko, Jānis Nords, Žanas Lipke Memorial, Signe Baumane, Iveta Apkalna, Andris Freibergs, Turaida Museum Reserve, Rasa and Raitis Šmiti, Andris Nelsons, Design Office “H2E”, Gidons Krēmers and chamber Hermanis, Latvian National Museum of Art, Rolands Kalniņš, Nora Ikstena, Imants Lancmanis, Elīna Garančas and Anna Laudere, Marina Rebeka, Gundega Laiviņa and the platform “Latvian Literature”.
