The cancer.nl foundation will hold an anniversary meeting on April 11 in De Skulp, location Kurioskerk at Julianalaan 38 in Leeuwarden. People with cancer and their loved ones, who want to use their experience for more informal support for others in the future, are welcome to think about this.
The number of people with cancer will increase by twenty percent in the coming years. While fewer and fewer hands come to the bed. Mutual care will become more important in the lives of patients and their loved ones.
“People who have experienced it themselves know better than anyone what problems a cancer patient faces, and what support is needed,” says Chris van Vlissingen, director of cancer.nl. That is the idea behind the meeting. We want to know what is going on and what the cancer.nl foundation can do to provide guidance to people with and after cancer in the future.”
Meet & greet for young people
To start up a network with and for young people with cancer in Friesland, there is a special warm welcome for young people (20-30 years old) who want to think about how they can support peers in Friesland. The patient organization Youth and Cancer Foundation will be present especially to meet young people on April 11.
Looking ten years ahead
Kanker.nl is organizing this meeting to celebrate its tenth anniversary. She uses this to look ahead to the next ten years. Kanker.nl is committed to the quality of life for people with and after cancer and their loved ones. Kanker.nl offers accessible and reliable medical information and brings fellow sufferers into contact with each other.
The meeting will start at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, April 11, and will end at approximately 9:00 PM. The program includes a reception with snacks and drinks, conversation sessions to translate people’s experiences into the future, tips and a musical conclusion and drinks to get to know each other.
