The Secretary of Finance said that the government has met the requirements of cancer medicines at the “Federico Gómez” Children’s Hospital, after parents of sick children demonstrated at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM).
“On Wednesday, January 22, the requirement for the 451 pieces of 1 mg vincristine, the main drug for the treatment of acute leukemia in combination with other medications, was delivered to the hospital,” he said in a statement.
In addition, he informed that in the next few days he will receive more than 120 thousand pieces of 14 cancer medications, among them, methotrexate, vincristine and cyclophosphamide, and added that from September 2019 until today 155,222 pieces of nine have been imported cancer medications.
He indicated that the Senior Officials work on the identification, purchase and import of medicines oncological to satisfy the supply in the country, and that together with the institutions of the health sector and the Secretariat of the Navy, adds efforts so that the medicines reach the patients who need them.
