Don’t rely on supplements to protect you from cancer

Moreover, some “natural” supplements produce drug interactions, both with some cytostatics and with other drugs that the cancer patient may have in the treatment regimen, such as anticoagulants.

Grapefruit juice, St. John’s wort, curcumin are the best known natural substances that are metabolized by the same enzyme apparatus with many drugs, including chemotherapeutics, and may decrease their effectiveness or potentiate side effects.

No excess alcohol, meat and sausages

Use a condom and get vaccinated

Unprotected sex is the leading cause of sexually transmitted diseases. However, some of these increase the risk of cancer.

For example, about 70% of cervical cancers are caused by sexually transmitted HPV infection (strains 16 and 18). Some hepatitis viruses are also transmitted through unprotected sex, causing liver cancer.

To avoid this, always use a condom! But the best form of protection is offered by vaccination.

Know your family history and don’t miss regular doctor visits

Some cancers can be inherited in the family or, rather, certain “defective” genes can be passed on to children, increasing their risk of developing a cancer.

If you have cancer in your family, it would be good to use various genetic tests or periodic screening tests after the age of 40, in order to detect possible genetic abnormalities in time.
