Canary Islands closes nightlife, imposes the mandatory mask and prohibits smoking in the street | BE Las Palmas | Hour 14 Las Palmas

The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has announced this Thursday, August 13, after the extraordinary meeting of the Governing Council to analyze the evolution of the coronavirus in the Archipelago that is retreating and opting for the closure of nightlife, after one of the largest outbreaks that have occurred in the archipelago is related to it.

Torres has also announced, at a press conference, that meetings, both in homes and abroad, may not exceed 10 people, while finally the Canary Islands has chosen to impose the mandatory nature of the mask in all spaces, also in the exteriors where until now if social distancing was fulfilled it could be dispensed with. In addition, the Government of the Canary Islands has agreed to ban smoking in open spaces if the health distances are not met

Reverse at nightlife

The Government of the Canary Islands has agreed to “reverse” the decree that regulated the opening of nightlife when an increase in Covid 19 cases related to this activity was detected.

The President of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has indicated, after an extraordinary Governing Council, that this sector is once again regulated by the Decree of June 20, 2020.

That decree verbatim indicates, “nightclub venues and other nightlife establishments may open exclusively outdoor spaces to the public, for consumption sitting at the table. In any case, the capacity on terraces will be 75 percent and it will be necessary to maintain interpersonal distance or, failing that, the use of a mask Dance floors are not allowed.
