Future opponent of the French team in the group stage, Canada has just announced its expanded squad of 18 players to prepare for the World Cup, which begins on August 25th. As an NBA fan, you don’t have to study the list very long to find names you know.
Jamal Murray, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and RJ Barrett will all be at training camp, just like Dillon Brooks, Luguentz Dort, Kelly Olynyk, Cory Joseph, Nickel Alexander-Walker (cousin of Shai), Oshae Brissett or Dwight Powell. The training camp will begin August 1st in Toronto for Canadians. They will train for several weeks under the orders of Jordi Fernandez, who took the place of Nick Nurse, before reducing the group to 12 players and flying to Indonesia, where they will play their group stage. Currently 15th nation in the FIBA rankings, Canada is struggling to find its place among the great basketball nations. In recent years, he has done no better than a bronze medal at the FIBA AmeriCup and a silver medal at the Pan American Games, both times in 2015. His best World Cup result?
