However, if the card is lost, you may have to pay for a replacement.
In this sense, the replacement process depends on each local government, and requirements vary from place to place. Luckily for many, virtually every state office offers an online EBT card replacement application.

Why exemptions will not be charged $5.00 USD?
This amount will not be charged for Disability Accommodation Requests approved by the EBT team. Neither will EBT accommodations for domestic violence with a referral or damaged or defective cards.
Also included here are lost starter cards that have never been used. There will also be no $5.00 USD charge for replacement of emergency EBT cards issued during system downtime. Finally, this amount will not be charged for new card applications after a case closure of 30 days or more.
