Salerno have a dream of recruiting Edinson Cavanibut will it happen this summer?
Cavani in the last two seasons playing for Manchester United. Unfortunately, Cavani’s career did not run smoothly in the 2021/2022 season which was his second year.
Most of the time in the treatment room due to injury, Cavani only appeared 20 times with a score of two goals and one assist. Making it even more bleak is that MU’s appearance is also sloppy.
As a result, MU did not extend Cavani’s contract which runs out at the end of this month. It is not yet known where the Uruguayan will go next, but Salernitana is interested in bringing him to Italy.
“Perhaps, it will remain a dream, but for sure he is a great player. We will start our transfer activities next week,” Salernitana president Danilo Iervolino told Radio Punto Nuovo.
“We will discuss it with the director and his staff, try to find the right profile and invest in it. We are optimistic. Hopefully, we can do a good job.”
In his inaugural season with MU after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, Cavani did appear brilliant with 17 goals and six assists from 39 appearances. He contributed to delivering Manchester United to the runners-up of the English League and Europa League.
“I actually want to contribute more this season. The only thing that makes me a little disappointed is the fans can’t support us when the team was performing amazingly last season,” Cavani said as reported by the Manchester Evening News.
