It’s been one of the great debates in the NBA for quite some time. Boston has been in the elite of the American competition for years, but has not been able to get the ring; What’s more, last year, when they seemed to have everything in their face to play the Finals for the second consecutive year, they lost in the Eastern Conference finals against the Miami Heat.
The debacle against those from Florida made the discussion rise in temperature. With Jaylen Brown entering the final year of his contract, the Celtics had to decide whether to give him the super max or seek a trade to change course. As we all know, they opted for the former and signed an extension for five years and 304 million dollars.
The greens have chosen their path. Basically they bet the next five years on the couple formed by Jayson Tatum and the aforementioned Brown. It doesn’t sound bad at all. They have already shown that they can win many games and go very far in the playoffs. However, there are doubts about whether that project can be champion; as expressed by Patrick Beverley in his own podcast in conversation with a listener when he asks if Tatum and Brown can win together.

“No. They are too similar players and they don’t complement each other enough.” This is how the veteran shows himself guard as to whether the current Celtics will achieve glory led by such stars.
At this point it is clear that the answer will only be given by the passage of time, but it is no less true that the windows end up closing. Boston has been looming for many years without being able to be the last one standing and needs that to happen sooner rather than later.
