Camilo Lara portrays America with music

With his music, Camilo Lara seeks to talk about social problems in order to leave a message and make people aware; Blur guitarist Graham Coxon joined his ideal to portray the American continent.

“I think we have the issue of discrimination pending, and it is important to talk about it; my music always has a political side; no matter how much I do dance music, I don’t stop having songs that talk about things that concern me and I put these songs on my records, “he says.

Wanting to portray what happens in Mexico and what Mexicans live day to day, the musician says that he was inspired by Trump’s actions, because he noticed that they began to affect Latinos, so he thought about writing about the subject.

“Talking about how America is many cultures, races, religions and how the US is for a few, that’s why I started writing thinking about Trump’s wall and how it has been very hard for Mexicans to be there and suffer from racism.” indicates.

The song that Lara made with the Blur member is called “My America is not your America”, in it, despite the pandemic, Coxon, who was dedicated to the project, took a risk to travel and record the video in Mexico, with all sanitary measures.

“After we recorded, we saw that it was very important that he come to Mexico to do the Mexican counterpart, then he came in the middle of the pandemic, at the worst moment and we recorded in the Plaza de Las Tres Culturas, in Tlatelolco and it was very exciting”, Explain.

It was a dream come true, says Lara, because he still can’t believe that one of his idols would agree to play with him, much less commit to his musical project.

“He’s been my lifelong musical influence and it’s been exciting to have him in my studio and record with him, he played a lot of guitars for my entire album; I’ve wanted to collaborate with him for a long time and finally when he was in Mexico we agreed and he stayed for a couple of days and we recorded ”, he reports.

The theme is now available on all digital platforms.
