Cameron County Reports 72 New COVID-19 Cases

Cameron County did not report new coronavirus-related deaths and 72 positive COVID-19 cases on Friday.

Since the pandemic began, the county has reported 1,694 coronavirus-related deaths.

Of the new cases reported on Friday, 18 were from shelters and detention centers for unaccompanied minors.

People who tested positive in the county belong to the following age groups:

32 people under 20 years of age

9 people in their 20s

13 30-year-olds

11 people in their 40s

2 50-year-olds

3 people 60 years old

1 person over 70 years old

Since the pandemic began, 42,701 people have tested positive for the virus in the county.

A total of 40,133 people have recovered from the virus in the county, according to the news release.

Vaccination efforts continue throughout Cameron County; Currently, 65.73% of the population, aged 12 years or over, is fully vaccinated.
