Calls for speed limits on regional roads – Road and law – Car to avoid small chips in the air

According to the Communication Department of VSIA “Latvijas Valsts veļi”, the season of active construction works continues in the state road network and in many places on regional roads throughout the country the pavement is being renewed by the surface treatment method. During these stages, it is important not to exceed the permitted driving speed of 50 kilometers per hour (km / h). Otherwise, the fragments picked up in the air may hit the windows of the oncoming car, warns LVC, noting that these repair stages are not long and after a week the excess fragments that have not adhered to the pavement are collected from the road surface.

Road repairs continue on a total of more than 120 national road sections, so drivers must take into account traffic restrictions, as well as additional time on the road and plan their trips in a timely manner.

There are four traffic light regulated sections on the Jēkabpils-Ludza (A12) section from Greivuļi to Greiškāni near Rēzekne, and it may take 45 minutes to drive them.

Construction works will also continue in several sections of the Daugavpils highway (A6). In the section from Salaspils to Ikšķile, the speed limit is set at 70 km / h and one of the two lanes of the carriageway in the direction of Riga is alternately closed. In the section near Pļaviņas between the two roundabouts there is a speed limit of 70 and 50 km / h, and the three-kilometer section requires 15 minutes of travel. In addition, the reconstruction works of the pavement will start just today in the 13-kilometer-long section from Līvāni in the direction of Daugavpils.

On the Jelgava highway (A8) in the section from Jaunolaine to the bridge over the Missis, traffic is still organized along the Jelgava carriageway in one lane in each direction, speed limit 70 km / h. Additional time must be planned during this phase of road construction, especially on weekday mornings and evenings, which can take more than half an hour.

On regional roads, most construction work is now taking place on the Pūri-Auce-Grīvaiši motorway (P96). There are four sections of temporary traffic lights in the 12-kilometer section from the start of the road. You have to spend 45 minutes on the road to leave. Construction work on this road has now started from Auce to Grīvaiši, there is a speed limit of 70 and 50 km / h for the time being and you have to spend an hour on the road. On the other hand, on the highway Ventspils-Kuldīga-Saldus (P108) in the 20-kilometer section, starting from Ventspils in the direction of Kuldīga, there are five traffic light sections and you also have to take into account the hourly journey.

Drivers are encouraged to follow traffic signals and traffic light signals during construction. All construction works and traffic restrictions can be found on the map available on the LVC website “www.lvceli.lv”.
