Called a substitute for Valentino Rossi at Yamaha, Fabio Quartararo admits he is depressed: Okezone Sports

SHAFTS – Monster Energy Yamaha racer, Fabio Fourtharo, was pressured by being called a substitute Valentino Rossi. The title came after Quartararo filled Rossi’s position at Yamaha this season.

As is known, a big change occurred at Yamaha at the end of last season. Yamaha did not renew Rossi’s contract, which expired at the end of last season, as it chose to upgrade Fabio Quartararo from satellite team, Petronas Yamaha SRT.

Yamaha signed Quartararo for two years. Rossi also joined Petronas SRT to fill Quartararo’s position. Rossi has a one-year contract with Petronas SRT.

Since officially replacing Rossi, Quartararo has felt great pressure because of the media that has given him the spotlight. However, Quartararo felt the pressure on him lessen since winning MotoGP Doha 2021 at Losail Circuit, Qatar.

Slick performance in the next few races also made Quartararo even more comfortable. Now, Quartararo leads the standings with a collection of 156 points.

“At the start of the year, the pressure on me didn’t come from the team, it came from outside. The press wrote that I had replaced the king, Valentino (Rossi), and I had to do it. I try not to listen to them, I just hope they will stop,” Quartararo said Tuttomotoriweb, Monday (28/6/2021).

“Winning in Qatar (MotoGP Doha 2021) makes me very happy. Since then, I don’t feel any more pressure,” he said.

“Another important race is in Portimao (Portuguese MotoGP 2021 at the Algarve Circuit), which last year was a disaster, but this time it went well. I think I will do better, but not as well (win the race),” said the racer nicknamed El Diablo.

It’s natural that Quartararo feels pressure because Rossi is one of the best riders in MotoGP history. Rossi is one of the drivers with the most collections of world titles, which is nine. A total of seven world titles the Italian racer won in MotoGP which is the elite class.

Rossi’s achievement only lost to another MotoGP legend, Giacomo Agostini. Rossi’s senior and compatriot holds the record as a racer with the most world titles (15 world titles).
