Banjarnegara Regent Budhi Sarwono appointed by the KPK as a suspect in a case of alleged corruption related to procurement at the PUPR Office of the Banjarnegara Regency Government in 2017-2018. Budhi had created a number of controversies before assuming the status of a suspect.
There are allegations of receiving gratuities in the procurement process at the PUPR Office of the Banjarnegara Regency Government. The indication is that the Rp 2.1 billion gratuity flows into Budhi’s pocket.
“After the KPK conducted an investigation, we certainly found sufficient preliminary evidence and we escalated it to an investigation. Tonight, we convey to our colleagues for their hard work, naming two suspects, including BS, namely the Regent of Banjarnegara Regency for the 2017-2022 period, the second suspect KA, private parties,” said KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri at a press conference at the KPK’s Red and White Building, South Jakarta, Friday (3/9/2021).
Budhi is alleged to have violated Article 12 letter i and/or article 12B of the Law (Law) on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes juncto Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
Regarding the Budhi controversy, the one that grabbed the most attention was when he mentioned the name of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. Budhi alluded to Luhut in a video spread on Twitter.

In a 1 minute 17 second video uploaded by Ferdinand Hutahaean on his Twitter account, Monday (23/8/2021) at 06.08 WIB, Buddhi initially reported on the development of COVID-19 cases in Banjarnegara. One of the things reported was regarding the bed occupancy rate (BOR) for COVID-19 patients in Banjarnegara.
“Thank God Banjarnegara used to be 99 percent BOR, the Emergency PPKM was lowered. I read the rules according to the President’s suggestion, which was immediately followed up by the Minister of Home Affairs,” said Budhi in the video clip.
Budhi’s statement offending Luhut is a series with the BOR question report. Buddhi seems to have forgotten the name Luhut.
“And at that time a meeting was held with the minister, who was the tailor, who was Batak, Mr. tailor. Emergency PPKM was carried out until now PPKM level 4, level 3 turns out that with the distribution of social safety nets this is very effective and efficient,” said Budhi .
When asked for confirmation about the viral clipping of the video, Budhi confirmed that it was him in the video. At that time there was a social safety net distribution activity in Bawang Village, Banjarnegara Regency, Saturday (21/8).
Now the ‘tailor’ problem is over. Budhi has apologized, and Luhut accepts.
